Electronics Development Engineer, Job Site: Armonk, NY

Underground Systems, Inc, (USi) is an Armonk, NY, based firm specializing in engineering services and advanced technology products for the electric power delivery industry. Due to continued growth and recent acquisitions, we seek an electronics development engineer in the Armonk office. This position is responsible for providing technology research in support of design, development and manufacture of USi products. The individual needs a creative mind and an energetic attitude. An in-depth understanding of electrical and physical fundamentals is necessary.

Responsibilities include: participate in the design and development of microprocessor based electronic products; develop factory and development lab test equipment to support the development, manufacture, and field testing of USi products; study the physical fundamentals of USi sensor product voltage measurements using FEA analysis software (Maxwell) and improve measurement accuracy; investigate the physical fundamentals of the high temperature behavior of steel and composite reinforced overhead conductors and develop methods to measure and analyze various parameters; study the physical fundamentals of the vibration of overhead conductors; and assist in the review and monitoring of patent/scientific literature.

Applicant must possess knowledge of high voltage and high current measurement device design, electrical insulation and electric field properties, finite Element Analysis software (Maxwell), analog and digital circuit design, GPRS and blue tooth communication systems, Microsoft Visual Basic, Visual C++, C, overhead transmission line design, experience working with high voltage (>100 kV ) and high current (>1000A) in a laboratory or in the field, and strong technical and problem-solving skills. Must have Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Physics
